Good morning everyone:
Sunny and cold but mild in the afternoon when it may become partly cloudy again but I do not expect significant rain. The same is valid for the northern interior and the Lowveld, Kwazulu-Natal and the Highveld. Sunny and cold over the Freestate with a few spots with light frost at first but sunny and mild during the day. Coolish over the western interior but not cold at first but warm during the day with a moderate north-easterly to westerly breeze already in progress with rather fresh thermal wind over Beufort-West this morning with an average speed of 38 km/h gusting up to 54 km/u. This wind as it start to warm up should ease somewhat during the midday period when temperatures will be closer than this morning. Thermal winds are created in the early morning due to uneven cooling between low and high ground where the low ground is at minimum 4-5 C cooler than the high ground areas. This effect is reversed by midday but at said time not that great a difference as in the morning, except if and when there is a gradient wind ( gradient wind is started when there is a big difference in barometric pressure over a short distance and in case of the central Karoo when there is a well defined cold front at the Cape with very low pressure. Partly cloudy to cloudy over the south-west Cape, south and south-east Cape coastal areas as well as parts of the adjacent interior of the Eastern Cape. Once again a rather good day over most of the country with no extreme weather!!
Have a lovely day!!
Good morning everyone:
Mostly sunny and cold but mild during the day when it will become partly cloudy and warm in the north. Cold over most of the northern interior at first but sunny and warm in the afternoon when it will become partly cloudy. Cold over the Highveld but mild in the afternoon when it will become partly cloudy and warm over the Lowveld, the same is valid for most of Kwazulu-Natal. Mostly cold over the central and western parts of North-West but mild to warm in the afternoon. Cloudy at first over the south-west Cape coast with a few showers already in progress over the southern mountains of the Boland and extend to the western parts of the Overberg. Partly cloudy8 to cloudy patches may still occur over the western escarpment and that may move eastwards as the day progress as far east as Beufort-West but the chance for significant rain is very small, with lots of luck there may be a few spots that may get dust wet conditions! Apart from the couple of spots over the western parts of the Overberg with showers this morning there is no significant change in the weather that yesterday!!
Have a lovely day!!
Good morning everyone;
Sunny and cold but mild during the day when it may become partly cloudy again. The same is valid for the northern interior, the Lowveld and Kwazulu-Natal. Cloudy with fog patches again over the south-west Cape coast but not as bad as yesterday morning but that does not mean there will be spots where visibility is reduced to less than 500 Meters, thus drive carefully and depart 15-30 minutes earlier than normal! Also cloudy along the south and south east Cape coast this morning but that should clear partially as the day progress. Sunny and cold over the Freestate with the normal areas (low lying) with light frost but mild during the day while it will be warm over the western and central parts of the Northern Cape. There is still a weak band of cloud over Namibia that may lead to an odd shower but I do not expect significant falls of rain over this country. Although minimums are on the low side over the interior (most of the regions) it is still not extreme cold but looking at the medium term outlook that may start to happen towards the end of the month. Take care and enjoy the day!!
Good morning everyone:
Sunny and cold but mild during the day and is also valid for most of the northern interior. Sunny and cold with light frost in the Bloemfontein/ Bethlehem and Frankfort regions but mild during the day when it will become partly cloudy in the west. Cold over the western interior but warm during the afternoon when it may become partly cloudy with a few odd showers but that is only a 10% chance and distribution. Overcast and cool over the south-west Cape coast with thick fog at first clearing during the morning and become mild. Mostly sunny and cool along the south, south-east and east coast but cold over the interior at first where it may become partly cloudy in the north with a few very odd showers in the afternoon and evening, again only a 10% chance. Cloudy over the eastern parts of Namibia with a few showers, well out of season, but is there and has produced a few showers already. There is certainly a extremely small chance that this cloud band (over Namibia) may move towards the northern parts of North-West but I will only suggest a 10% chance that there may be significant or measureable rain later this afternoon or tonight. It has happened 36 hours ago over isolated spots in the Coligny region on part of one farm thus it is not impossible. With thick fog over the Cape this morning there may be a few flights on the way to Cape town that may be delayed for an hour or two.
Take care and enjoy the day.
Good morning everyone:
Still overcast and on the cool side over most of Gauteng with lots of fog around over the central high ground but cold in the Vaalriver basin. Clearing will be slow and with that maximums will also recover slowly. Overcast and cold over the eastern Highveld and escarpment with thick fog in places and with a few places only at 2 C this morning with fog, well that is very cold! Somewhat warmer over the Lowveld but also fog patches around this morning thus where ever you go, drive slowly and leave for church early. Cloudy to overcast over the central and north-eastern parts of the country with a few drizzle patches over the northern and eastern escarpment. Although not a lot of development there is some activity in the form of showers and isolated thundershowers from Upington in the north to De Aar in the south but I do not expect much more than a few dust wet spots. Cold over the Freestate with a few light frost spots in and around the Bloemfontein area but sunny during the day. A cool start over the south-west, south and south-east Cape coast but with mostly sunny weather temperatures will recover somewhat! Where ever you are and whatever you do, keep warm, be safe and enjoy the day!!
Good morning everyone:
Mainly sunny and cold but mild in the afternoon when it will become partly cloudy, one or two off showers may occur over the southern extremes of the province. Sunny and cold over the northern interior but warm in the afternoon when it will become cloudy from the east. Cloudy and cool over the northern and north-eastern Freestate with a few showers and may become a bit more scattered in the Bethlehem region towards the evening. Cloudy and cool over most of Kwazulu-Natal with isolated showers over the central and southern parts and will move gradually northwards as the day progress to include the southern parts of the Lowveld. Also cloudy along the south and south-east coast with perhaps a few odd showers but I do not expect significant fall of rain. Mainly sunny over the south-western Cape but will also start cold becoming mild during the day. Cold over the western interior at first but mild during the day.
Have a lovely day and enjoy the week-end!
Good morning everyone:
Sunny and cold with industrial haze or smoke over the central and southern parts and there is already a north-westerly breeze around 16-20 km/h over the high ground in the Germiston/ Johannesburg region. The reason I say wind is that with wind and dry conditions may lead to the spread of veld fires thus take care and keep those cigarette butts in the car do not shoot it out of your window!! With the wind over the high ground temperatures are somewhat higher than low lying areas where there is no wind but it still feel cold due to the chill factor that comes into play! Mostly on the cold side over most of the northern interior but as the day progress with sunny weather temperatures will recover to the mid 20’s making it feel pleasant but it is also dry thus take care. A band of middle and high cloud has formed over central North-West due to a weak upper-air trough that stretches down to the eastern Cape coastal areas. There are limited development in the form of weak thunder cells in this band of cloud towards the southern Freestate, the northern parts of the great Karoo towards East London but I do not expect a lot of rain a few dust wet spots is not out of the question! This cloud band also kept the minimum temperatures somewhat higher but on the other side of the coin it will also prevent recovery of maximum temperatures keeping it at best in the mild range. One can also see a blob of cloud to the south-west of the Cape with rain and although there is fog over the south-west Cape coast this morning it should clear as the morning progress but become cloudy at times during the day with a few showers confined to the coastal regions. There is also a few fog patches (due to on-shore flow) over the western escarpment areas but that should clear partially but remain cold during the day. Again rather cold over the western interior of Kwazulu-Natal with temperatures close to frost conditions (minimums lower than 4 C mean that the surface temperature or grass temperature may be as low as just below 0 C) but mild along the coast with a few cloudy patches.
Take care and whatever the weather enjoy the day!!
